The Korea Women's Open, a major championship and national title event in women's golf, will be held at Lakewood Country Club in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province.
According to golf industry sources on the 16th, the Mercedes-Benz 40th Korea Women's Open Golf Championship, scheduled for June 11-14, has recently confirmed Lakewood CC as its venue. The tournament will use the Sangil and Supgil courses from the club's 36 holes. Mercedes-Benz plans to increase the total purse from 1.2 billion won to 1.5 billion won ($1.1 million). Including this event, six tournaments will feature a 1.5 billion won purse this year, making it the highest prize money level on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour.
The Korea Women's Open had been held at Rainbow Hills in Eumseong, North Chungcheong Province, for five consecutive years since 2021. During that period, DB Group served as the title sponsor, using its Rainbow Hills golf course as the venue. The course's high difficulty and steep elevation changes led to numerous withdrawals each year.
With Mercedes-Benz taking over as title sponsor, the venue has changed. Approximately three prestigious golf courses were candidates, and Lakewood CC was ultimately selected.
