The match was decided on the final putt of the first playoff hole. With Bryson DeChambeau of the United States watching after securing par, Lee Tae-hoon (36) confidently attempted a 90-centimeter par putt. Just as everyone expected an easy make and anticipated a second playoff hole, the ball left Lee's putter and lipped out. DeChambeau, who had been watching Lee's putt, appeared stunned with his hands on his head when the ball failed to drop.
Korean-Canadian golfer Lee Tae-hoon finished runner-up after losing to DeChambeau in a playoff at the LIV Golf Singapore tournament (total purse $25 million), which concluded on the 15th at Sentosa GC in Singapore (par 71).
Lee shot a 5-under-par 66 with six birdies and one bogey on the final day, finishing at 14-under-par 270 to tie DeChambeau and force a playoff. In the sudden-death playoff on the 18th hole (par 5), Lee made a costly putting error resulting in a bogey, handing the victory to DeChambeau who made par.
Despite the disappointing runner-up finish, Lee recorded his best result since joining LIV Golf and took home $2.25 million (approximately 3.4 billion won) in prize money. This amount exceeds his career earnings of 2.58 billion won on the Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Tour.
