
Max Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, has re-signed with the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball.
AP reported on the 27th that Scherzer agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract with Toronto. In the 2025 season, Scherzer appeared in 17 games for Toronto, posting a 5-5 record with a 5.19 ERA.
MLB.com added that the $3 million is a base salary, with incentives potentially bringing the total value up to $10 million.
Scherzer won the Cy Young Award three times—in 2013, 2016, and 2017—and captured World Series titles in 2019 and 2023.
He debuted with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2008 and has since played for the Detroit Tigers, Washington Nationals, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, and Texas Rangers before joining Toronto in 2025.
In last season's World Series against the Dodgers, he made two starts, allowing 9 hits and 4 runs over 8⅔ innings. An eight-time MLB All-Star, Scherzer holds a career regular-season record of 221-117 with a 3.22 ERA.
