
Paris Saint-Germain, home to South Korean national team midfielder Lee Kang-in, defeated AS Monaco to secure a berth in the 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League round of 16.
PSG drew 2-2 with Monaco in the second leg of the knockout round playoff at Parc des Princes in Paris on Tuesday.
Having won the first leg 3-2 away, PSG advanced with a 5-4 aggregate score.
Lee Kang-in, who started on the bench, entered the match in the 69th minute as a substitute for Bradley Barcola and played until the final whistle. However, he failed to register any goals or assists.
PSG, which clinched the club's first-ever UCL title last season, is now chasing back-to-back championships.
PSG's round of 16 opponent will be determined in the draw on Thursday. The club will face either FC Barcelona of Spain or Chelsea of England.
The match was evenly contested throughout the first half.
Monaco broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time when Maghnes Akliouche found the net with a strike.
Monaco's fortunes quickly turned in the second half when key midfielder Tanguy Kouassi was sent off after receiving a second yellow card. Kouassi, who had been booked in the 50th minute, was dismissed just three minutes later for a reckless tackle on PSG fullback Achraf Hakimi.

PSG capitalized immediately on the resulting free kick. In the 60th minute, Désiré Doué made a quick run down the right flank and delivered a cutback pass, which Marquinhos converted with a left-footed shot.
PSG extended their lead in the 66th minute to seal their progression. After the goalkeeper parried Hakimi's surprise long-range effort, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia pounced on the rebound and scored with his right foot.
PSG conceded a late goal to Monaco's Jordan Teze in stoppage time but held on to secure their place in the round of 16.
