Mercedes-Benz Korea will serve as the title sponsor for the Korea Women's Open.
The Korea Golf Association, which organizes the Korea Women's Open, held a sponsorship signing ceremony at The Shilla Seoul on the 25th. The "Mercedes-Benz 40th Korea Women's Open Golf Championship" will be held from June 11 to 14 this year, with the venue to be announced later. Through this sponsorship, the total prize money will be increased to 1.5 billion won, befitting the nation's premier tournament. Additionally, as a special benefit, the winner will receive an entry to the AIG Women's Open, a women's golf major championship sponsored by Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Germany.
The Korea Women's Open is the national title tournament representing Korean women's golf. Until last year, DB Group served as title sponsor, with the event held at Rainbow Hills Country Club in Eumseong, North Chungcheong Province. The tournament is organized by the Korea Golf Association and is one of the major events on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour. For reference, BMW sponsors the BMW Ladies Championship, the only LPGA Tour event held in Korea.
"We are deeply honored to partner with the Korea Women's Open Golf Championship, a tournament with a rich tradition and prestigious standing," said Mathias Vaitl, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea. "This sponsorship is particularly meaningful given that the Mercedes-Benz brand has also built trust and prestige through 140 years of heritage. We will continue to invest in and collaborate with the Korean market, expanding opportunities to promote our brand values and philosophy while contributing to the development of golf culture in Korea."
