Mizuno Launches Limited-Edition 'MX Forged Black' Irons

Mizuno has unveiled its MX Forged Black Edition irons. The MX series was originally designed specifically for Korean golfers before expanding into a global lineup. This limited-edition Black Edition features a unified black color scheme from head to shaft to grip, elevating its sophisticated aesthetic.

The irons incorporate Mizuno's patented "Grain Flow Forged" technology. This process forms the club as a single piece from face to neck using one cylindrical steel billet. The technique creates denser metal grain flow lines—a key factor in feel—delivering a satisfying impact sound. The high-quality soft iron used for the head also contributes to the crisp acoustics.

Head balance varies by club number. Long and mid irons feature stable address positioning and easy ball contact, while short irons focus on enhanced directional accuracy and control. Weight saved through deeply machined undercut cavity construction has been redistributed to the head's perimeter. A sound pad inserted at the top of the cavity effectively dampens unwanted vibration.

The wedges feature full-groove design to deliver consistent spin performance even on slightly off-center strikes. The Hydro Flow Micro Groove technology also stands out. This laser-machined process creates microscopic moisture channels around the score lines, helping maintain stable spin performance in wet conditions.
