Kim Joo-hyung's bid for his first top-10 finish in nearly a year was derailed by a triple bogey.
Kim shot even par in the final round of the PGA Tour Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday, finishing tied for 34th at 5-under 279 for the tournament. The event carries a total purse of $20 million.
Kim collected four birdies on the day but gave back strokes with a triple bogey and a bogey. The fatal blow came at the par-4 12th hole, where his tee shot landed in the woods left of the fairway, resulting in a lost ball. After struggling through the rough and bunkers, he walked off with a triple bogey.
Kim, a three-time PGA Tour winner, has not won since the Shriners Children's Open in October 2023. His last top-10 finish came at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in January last year, where he tied for seventh.
Fellow Korean Kim Si-woo also finished tied for 34th. Kim Si-woo had been riding momentum early this season, posting three top-10 finishes in his first four events. He recorded a runner-up finish at the Farmers Insurance Open and tied for third at the Phoenix Open earlier this month. However, his recent results have cooled, with finishes of tied for 45th and tied for 34th in his last two starts.
