Choi Ga-on (Sehwa Girls' High School), who delivered Korea's first gold medal at the 2026 Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics, met with short track team ace Choi Min-jung (Seongnam City Hall).
According to the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee on January 15 (local time), Choi Ga-on visited the athletes' village in Milan, Italy, that morning to meet Choi Min-jung.
The meeting was arranged at Choi Ga-on's initiative.
Choi Ga-on expressed through the committee her wish to meet Choi Min-jung, a longtime favorite athlete, and Choi Min-jung gladly accepted.
The two embraced warmly upon meeting.
Choi Min-jung congratulated Choi Ga-on on winning the gold medal.
"Choi Ga-on is truly an amazing athlete," Choi Min-jung said, giving a thumbs up. Choi Ga-on showed her gold medal and wished Choi Min-jung success.
During her visit to the athletes' village, Choi Ga-on also met with other skating athletes, spreading her golden energy.
Choi Min-jung, gold medalist at the 2018 PyeongChang and 2022 Beijing Olympics, will pursue her third consecutive gold medal with Choi Ga-on's encouragement.
Choi Min-jung is set to compete in the women's 1000m on January 16, women's 3000m relay on January 19, and women's 1500m on January 21 (Korea time), aiming for gold.
