South Korea's mixed doubles curling pair Kim Sun-young (Gangneung City Hall) and Jeong Young-seok (Gangwon Provincial Office) secured their third consecutive victory at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics round-robin but failed to advance to the semifinals.
In their eighth round-robin match held at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, on February 9 (Korea time), Kim and Jeong defeated Canada's Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant 9-5, claiming their third win in the round-robin stage.
The Korean pair lost all five of their opening matches before defeating the United States, Estonia, and Canada in succession to finish the round-robin with a 3-5 record. However, regardless of the outcome of their final round-robin match against Norway scheduled for later that afternoon, they have been eliminated from semifinal contention as four teams have already secured five or more wins.
Mixed doubles curling features 10 teams competing in a round-robin preliminary stage, with the top four teams advancing to the semifinals to determine final standings.
Trailing 1-3 in the fourth end, the Korean pair held the hammer advantage. Kim successfully knocked out an opponent's stone from the house with her final throw, scoring three points to take a 4-3 lead. Korea extended the margin to 6-3 with two points in the fifth end before conceding two points to Canada in the sixth end, narrowing the score to 6-5. The Korean pair sealed the victory by adding two points in the seventh end and one point in the eighth end to win 9-5.
