Ahn Byeong-hun has positioned himself for a victory bid at the opening event of the LIV Golf 2026 season, sitting tied for 10th through three rounds as he chases the leaders.
Ahn carded a bogey-free 5-under-par 67 with five birdies in the third round of the LIV Golf Riyadh tournament ($30 million purse) at Riyadh Golf Club (par 72) in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
At 12-under-par through 54 holes, Ahn trails co-leaders Elvis Smylie of Australia and Peter Uihlein of the United States by four strokes in a tie for 10th place.
LIV Golf, which launched in 2022, operated as a 54-hole, three-round format through last year but has expanded to a 72-hole, four-round format starting this season.
Ahn competed on the PGA Tour through the 2025 season before joining LIV Golf this year. He serves as captain of the Korean Golf Club, a team comprising Korean players.
Taylor Gooch of the United States sits alone in third place, one stroke behind the leaders, while Jon Rahm of Spain and two others are tied for fourth at two strokes back.
Lee Tae-hoon of Canada, who earned his LIV Golf card this season by finishing first in the promotion event, is tied for 13th at 10-under-par alongside Bryson DeChambeau of the United States and Sergio Garcia of Spain.
