Milan Rocked by Ski Jumping 'Genital Scandal' Ahead of 2026 Winter Olympics

With the 2026 Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics approaching, controversy has erupted over allegations that some ski jumping athletes received genital enlargement injections to improve their performance.

German newspaper Bild reported on Sunday, citing anonymous sources, that some ski jumpers are injecting hyaluronic acid into their genitals or placing clay in their underwear to increase body measurements during suit fitting procedures.

In ski jumping, the size of an athlete's skin suit is determined based on body measurements. Even a slight increase in suit surface area can provide significant aerodynamic advantages.

This is not the first time such controversy has emerged in ski jumping. At the 2025 World Ski Championships, Norway's national team was caught adjusting the groin seams of their suits to make them larger than regulations allowed.

The medals to be awarded at this Winter Olympics are expected to become the most expensive Olympic medals in history.

CNN reported on Sunday that the metal value of this year's gold medals is estimated at approximately $2,300. This is roughly double the metal cost of gold medals at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. The metal value of silver medals has also risen to approximately $1,400, nearly three times higher than at the Paris Games.

The sharp increase in medal metal costs is due to steadily rising gold and silver prices. According to financial data provider FactSet, spot prices for gold and silver have surged approximately 107% and 200%, respectively, since July 2024.
