Woo Hee-jong, professor emeritus of veterinary medicine at Seoul National University, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Korea Racing Authority (KRA).
The KRA announced Wednesday that Woo has assumed office as the 39th chairman for a three-year term. Former Chairman Jung Ki-hwan, who took office in February 2022, had continued to lead the organization beyond his three-year term due to delays in selecting a successor.
Born in 1958, Woo is a Seoul National University graduate who served as professor of veterinary medicine and dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the university. He also served as co-representative of the Platform Party and as a member of the emergency steering committee of the Rebuilding Korea Party.
