LIV Golf, which launched in 2022, will receive Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points starting this season.
The OWGR committee announced on Tuesday that "players competing in LIV Golf events will be awarded world ranking points starting this season."
However, there are differences compared to other tours. Typically, on the PGA Tour and other tours, all players who make the cut receive ranking points. But LIV Golf is expected to award ranking points only to the top 10 finishers.
The points for winners will also be lower than other tours. Golf Channel, a U.S. golf media outlet, projected that "LIV Golf event winners will receive approximately 23 points." This is less than half of what PGA Tour winners receive. Justin Rose of England, who won last week's Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour, earned 56 points.
The 2026 LIV Golf season opens in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday Korea time. This year, the Korean Golf Club, consisting of An Byeong-hun, Song Young-han, Kim Min-kyu, and Danny Lee (New Zealand), will compete in LIV Golf.
