Kevin Durant, the 38-year-old veteran forward for the Houston Rockets, missed a game after injuring his ankle by stepping on a fan's foot.
Durant did not play in the 2025-2026 NBA regular season road game against the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Friday.
The Associated Press reported that Durant injured his left ankle after stepping on a fan's foot during a recent game, which kept him out of Friday's contest.
Houston head coach Ime Udoka announced Durant's absence 90 minutes before tip-off, saying "Durant tweaked his ankle." He did not comment on when Durant would return.
While Durant missed two games in November last year due to personal reasons, this marks the first time this season he has been sidelined due to injury.
Durant played 38 minutes and 15 seconds in Houston's 111-107 home victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday.
Durant leads the team in scoring this season with an average of 26.2 points per game. He was also selected to his 16th career All-Star team. The NBA All-Star Game will be held on February 16 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
Despite Durant's absence, Houston defeated Indiana 118-114 on Friday to extend their winning streak to three games. Alperen Sengun led the Rockets with a season-high 39 points, adding 16 rebounds and 5 assists.
Houston, which has won five of its last six games, maintained fourth place in the Western Conference with a 31-17 record.
