British media reports suggest South Korea could be on the verge of producing its 16th Premier League player, with Fulham expressing interest in Korean national team striker Oh Hyeon-gyu (24).
Sky Sports reported on January 25 that "Fulham have held positive talks with Belgian club Genk over a move for Oh Hyeon-gyu." Oh, who has scored 10 goals this season, is under contract with Genk until summer 2028.
The report added that Fulham had offered 28 million pounds for PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi after an initial 21 million pound bid was rejected earlier this month. The club is also maintaining interest in Manchester City forward Oscar Bobb.
This is not the first time Oh has been linked with a move to a major European league. In September last year, he received an offer from Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart. German football magazine Kicker reported at the time that "only the Stuttgart medical test remained," suggesting a transfer was imminent. However, the move ultimately fell through after Stuttgart withdrew due to concerns over Oh's knee condition and difficulties in transfer fee negotiations.
Despite the psychological impact of the collapsed transfer, Oh remained steadfast and continued performing. This season, he has established himself as a key attacking player for his team, recording 10 goals and 3 assists in 30 official matches (6 goals and 3 assists in the league, 3 goals in the Europa League, and 1 goal in Europa League qualifiers).
