Medical staff from Medifield Hangang Hospital carried out volunteer medical services in Africa for local underserved communities.
According to Medifield Hangang Hospital on the 6th, Han Kwan-soo, chief of the emergency medicine department, visited Kasaria EcoCity in Zambia, Africa, from the 11th to the 22nd of last month to participate in overseas medical volunteer work.
As a member of an overseas medical volunteer group, Han met with local residents to provide treatment and health consultations. He offered basic medical care to residents in areas where access to medical institutions is not easy, examined their health conditions, and delivered necessary medical advice.
Despite the poor medical conditions, Han treated a variety of patients, reflecting on the role of medical professionals and the meaning of sharing. He contributed to improving the health and medical accessibility of residents in medically underserved areas.
Medifield Hangang Hospital, located in Kimnyangjang-dong, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, aims to foster a culture of practicing medical sharing not only in the local community but also at domestic and international sites in need of help, based on the expertise it has accumulated in the medical field.
The hospital plans to continue supporting its medical staff's social contribution activities and to carry on with patient-centered medical services alongside the practice of social responsibility.
"A medical professional's responsibility does not stop at treatment within the hospital," said Kang Nam-gyu, director of Medifield Hangang Hospital. "We will extend the healing touch of medicine to where it is needed and become a hospital that grows together with the local community."
