An unprecedented forum for policy communication is unfolding in Shinan County of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City. The "Town Hall Meeting with County Residents," led by County Governor Kim Tae-seong, who has placed integrity as the top priority of the 9th popularly elected administration and reflects even the smallest voices in policy, is undergoing a fresh transformation.
Shinan County announced on the 28th that it will convert the "Town Hall Meeting with County Residents," held weekly under the 9th popularly elected administration, into a resident debate format centered on major county administration issues.
The regular town hall meetings at the county office, to be held from August 12, will be elevated a step further into a "policy communication platform" where the county's major issues go beyond gathering everyday complaints, with residents and the administration debating together and seeking solutions. In particular, the entire debate process will be broadcast live in real time to enhance administrative transparency and build consensus among residents.
The "Outreach Town Hall Meeting," which involves direct visits to towns and townships, will maintain its existing format. It will continue to operate as a field-centered communication method where any resident can freely express opinions and make suggestions on site.
"The regular town hall meetings at the county office will serve as a venue to discuss major county administration issues together, while the outreach town hall meetings will operate as a channel to directly hear voices from the field," Shinan County Governor Kim Tae-seong said. "We will strengthen communication-based administration so that residents' valuable opinions are actively reflected in actual county affairs."
