The global market entry of innovative products selected by the Public Procurement Service (PPS) is expected to gain momentum.
The PPS announced on the 27th that it had confirmed the companies selected for the second round of its 2026 export-leading pilot purchase program for innovative products (overseas field testing) and disclosed the results on the Innovation Marketplace.
The PPS is pursuing an overseas field-testing project in which foreign procurement agencies pilot Korean innovative products to verify their technology and quality. Based on this, the agency aims to expand sales channels into overseas public procurement markets as well as private markets.
The PPS is carrying out overseas field testing through several models: a joint-demand discovery model linked with power generation public enterprises, an overseas-entry demand model linked with KOTRA, a smart transportation demand model linked with the Korea Expressway Corporation, a water and climate tech innovation demand model in collaboration with the Korea Water Resources Corporation, and a development cooperation demand model in partnership with the Rural Development Administration.
Through this collaborative framework, a total of 38 innovative products were selected to meet the demands of foreign public institutions in 36 countries, and field testing worth approximately 8.4 billion won will be conducted. The matching included many innovative products in strategic industry sectors with high global demand and strong potential for application in the overseas public sector, such as AI, K-medical, hydrogen, and water and climate tech.
These include an automated facility inspection system using autonomous drones for demand in Türkiye, a rehabilitation medical device incorporating training content for demand at Bach Mai National Hospital in Vietnam, and an automated robot for responding to seawater quality pollution for demand in Singapore. The selection featured products with promising prospects for future overseas market entry.
"The PPS will systematically support the entire process, from overseas field testing to overseas public procurement contracts and subsequent exports, to back global market entry," said Kang Hee-hoon, director general for innovation procurement planning at the PPS.
