Seongnam City announced on the 24th that it is carrying out the "Dream Start Healthy Growth Project," which provides free health checkups to 150 children under its case management program.
The project is being pursued after the city signed an agreement in July last year with Medipia Medipium Bundang Clinic, a medical corporation located in Seohyeon-dong, to sponsor health checkups for vulnerable children over three years.
The health checkups are available to applicants among elementary school students eligible for the Dream Start program, which provides customized integrated services in health, welfare, and education for vulnerable children aged 0 to 12.
The checkups will be conducted over four weeks from the 27th to the 21st of next month.
When eligible children visit the hospital, they can receive free checkups covering 40 items across 11 categories, including blood, urine, circulatory system, liver function, endocrine system, and respiratory system. The total sponsored amount for the checkups reaches 12 million won (80,000 won per child).
Once the checkup results are available, the city will support re-examinations and treatment when necessary in connection with the Sujeong, Jungwon, and Bundang district health centers, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, and Bundang CHA Hospital. Children with reduced vision will receive glasses, and children with obesity will receive nutrition education. Recipients can also receive up to 500,000 won in dental treatment costs.
"Through the Dream Start Healthy Growth Project, we will help growing children detect diseases early and connect them to appropriate treatment and health management," a city official said.
