Daegu said on the 21st that it has begun developing a new city brand slogan that reflects the city's unique identity and future vision.
Daegu had used "Colorful Daegu" as its city brand slogan since 2004, but abolished it in 2022 and has since used only "Powerful Daegu," its municipal administration slogan.
The city now plans to create a new city brand slogan.
To this end, the city will form and operate a City Brand Committee to reflect diverse opinions from citizens and experts and to ensure expertise and objectivity in the slogan development process.
The city plans to hold a kickoff meeting of the City Brand Committee on the 24th to discuss the direction and implementation plan for developing the brand slogan.
The city plans to develop candidate proposals through public input, expert consultation, and preference surveys, and to finalize the slogan by the end of October after social consensus and verification procedures.
During this process, the existing "Colorful Daegu" and "Powerful Daegu" will also be included for review.
Once the brand slogan is finalized, the city plans to pursue the revision of related ordinances and actively use it across city marketing and promotional projects to enhance its global city brand competitiveness.
"We will create a brand slogan that captures Daegu's future vision and the city's values, one that citizens can relate to and take pride in," Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho said.
