Dongjak District, led by Mayor Ryu Sam-young, announced that it will operate the "2026 Dongjak District Children's Water Play Package" for residents worn out by the heatwave.
The event consists of "water playgrounds" and the "Noryang Water Gun Battle," which will open in succession at local parks and sports facilities from July 25 to August 17.
Any child or family in the district can use the facilities free of charge from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with a lunch break from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.), with entry on a first-come, first-served basis on-site without advance reservation.
The "water playgrounds" will be set up at three locations: Chamsae Children's Park in Daebang-dong (July 25 to August 2), Songhakdae Park in Noryangjin-dong (August 1 to August 9), and Hyeonchung Neighborhood Park in Sadang-dong (July 25 to August 9). They will be closed on Mondays.
The playgrounds will feature pools, mini water slides, and fountain tunnels, and on weekends will present bubble shows and magic shows that the whole family can enjoy.
Following this, the district's signature summer festival, the "Noryang Water Gun Battle," will be held from August 8 to 17 at Noryangjin Soccer Field (688 Nodeul-ro).
The festival will offer an abundance of water play facilities, including large water slides and prefabricated pools, along with a diverse range of programs such as the Water Gun Battle (Blue-White Team Contest and Water Cannon), family dance parties and challenges, and the Noryang photo zone. In particular, during the Liberation Day holiday period (August 15 to 16), operating hours will be extended until 7:30 p.m.
The district plans to make every effort to create a safe and comfortable water play environment by permanently stationing safety management personnel, monitoring appropriate admission numbers, and inspecting water quality and facilities.
Meanwhile, visitors to the water playgrounds must observe the facility usage rules, including wearing swimsuits (including rash guards) and swimming caps, entry restrictions when the appropriate number of people is exceeded, and a ban on bringing in alcohol and ordering outside food delivery.
"We have prepared the 'Children's Water Play Package' so that the whole family can enjoy the sweltering summer together in the city," Dongjak District Mayor Ryu Sam-young said. "We will operate it safely and substantially so that it can provide exciting memories for children and a special break for families."
