A man in his 20s has been arrested by police on suspicion of attacking a well-known investment YouTuber with a knife in Busan.
According to the Busan Nambu Police Station and News1 on the 14th, the man, identified as A (in his 20s, male), is suspected of stabbing the face and body of B (in his 40s, male), who runs an investment-related YouTube channel, several times with a knife (attempted murder) at a commercial building in Nam-gu, Busan, at around 8:05 a.m. the previous day.
A fled the scene immediately after the crime and was arrested by police at around 8:17 a.m. at a lodging establishment near the site. Before committing the crime, A reportedly determined B's whereabouts, prepared a knife, and sought him out.
B was taken to a hospital by the 119 emergency response team that responded to the report and is receiving treatment. Fortunately, his life is not in danger, according to reports.
After the incident, posts spread on online communities and social networking services (SNS) claiming the crime was committed over investment losses. A is a subscriber to B's YouTube channel, and speculation has been raised that A may have committed the crime out of resentment after suffering major losses from investing in stocks after watching the investment broadcasts.
In response, police took a cautious stance, saying, "This is a matter currently under investigation, and we cannot confirm specific details."
Police plan to apply for an arrest warrant after questioning A about the precise motive, the preparation process for the crime, and the relationship between the two.
