Lotte World Adventure Busan is significantly expanding its horror content for the summer peak season. The theme park is introducing "horror radio" that uses sound to create fear beyond visual scares, while also unveiling a new zombie escape experience.
Lotte World Adventure Busan said on the 15th that it will operate the new horror content "Gwimun Radio" and the experiential content "Gwimun-Z Protocol" starting on the 17th.
These offerings are summer season-limited programs that can be enjoyed indoors away from the heat, targeting the peak season when demand for horror content concentrates.
The most eye-catching is the sound-focused "Gwimun Radio." While the existing experiential horror facility "Gwimun (鬼門): Cave of Evil Spirits" emphasized visual staging, the new format uses voice and storytelling to stimulate fear.
Reflecting how horror radio has recently established itself as a content genre centered on YouTube, the park collaborated with "Watsub! Horror Radio," a YouTube channel with 260,000 subscribers. Through the narration and dubbing of professional voice actors, it presents various horror stories, including ghost tales set in Busan as well as adaptations of real accounts.
The experience space is located on the bridge connecting the water attractions "Ogre's Flume" and "Talking Tree." Lighting and props create an eerie atmosphere, and with air conditioning installed, it operates as a unique rest space where visitors can enjoy horror content while escaping the heat.
"Gwimun-Z Protocol," opening the same day, is a room-escape-type experience featuring zombies. It shares a universe with the existing "Gwimun: Cave of Evil Spirits" and is set in a research laboratory where the first zombie infection appeared. Participants must find clues throughout the laboratory and escape within a five-minute time limit, with realistic staging and missions heightening the tension.
"Following water attractions, our signature summer content, we are now expanding into horror content, strengthening our content competitiveness by shifting from a ride-centered park to a stay-oriented entertainment space," a Lotte World Adventure Busan official said.
