South Chungcheong Province is activating a company-tailored rapid support system to accelerate 202 trillion won in advanced industry investment.
The province held the first meeting of the "Chungnam Advanced Industry Corporate Investment Support Council" at the provincial government office on the 15th, with related institutions including Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung SDI, SK Telecom, and the cities of Cheonan, Asan, and Dangjin.
The council will ensure the smooth implementation of the 202 trillion won "Chungnam Advanced Industry Investment Plan," announced at the "National Report Meeting on the Chungcheong Region Advanced Industry Development Vision" held in Asan on July 2, and support rapid corporate investment.
The province decided to operate a standing communication system (hotline) to quickly resolve difficulties companies face during the investment process, and to designate dedicated public officials for each company to provide customized support.
The province also plans to operate the council by linking provincial departments, relevant cities and counties, and investing companies across four investment sectors: semiconductors, displays, secondary batteries, and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.
For semiconductors, the provincial semiconductor team, the cities of Cheonan and Asan, and Samsung Electronics will participate, while for displays, the provincial display and electronics team, the city of Asan, and Samsung Display will be members. For secondary batteries, the provincial carbon neutrality industry team, the city of Cheonan, and Samsung SDI will join, and for AI data centers, the provincial corporate attraction team, local governments, and SK Telecom will establish a cooperation system.
At the meeting, companies requested rapid processing of licensing procedures related to new factory construction and expansion. In response, the province decided to introduce an "integrated provincial-municipal licensing fast-track system" to support administrative procedures.
The province will also form the "Chungnam Advanced Strategic Industry Great Leap Task Force (TF)," led by the administrative vice governor, to ensure company proposals are not treated as one-time discussions, with its first meeting scheduled for July 24.
The task force will operate as a cross-institutional body involving 13 relevant provincial departments, cities and counties, investing companies, and related institutions. It plans to establish the "South Chungcheong Province Advanced Industry Investment Comprehensive Support Plan" by the end of this month and build a support system for a sustainable industrial ecosystem.
"We will pool efforts across departments to resolve difficulties and improve regulations, actively pursuing investment support that companies can tangibly feel," said Koo Sang, head of the province's Industry and Economy Office.
