A woman in her 40s who rammed a police patrol car with her young daughter aboard and faced off with police for an hour, saying she was angry after quarreling with her husband, has been placed under emergency hospitalization.
According to police on the 12th, the Icheon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said it arrested A on an emergency basis on charges of special obstruction of official duties before ordering her emergency hospitalization.
A is accused of ramming a patrol car after failing to follow police orders to stop while driving with her 8-year-old daughter, B, on a road in Bubal-eup, Icheon, around 1:40 p.m. that day.
Earlier, A had headed to an acquaintance's house with B after arguing with her husband. The husband reported to police around 12:10 p.m., saying, "My wife left with our child, and I'm worried (about an accident)."
Police who were dispatched after receiving the report found A and asked her to stop the car. When she refused to comply, they blocked her front and back with patrol cars.
Unable to move in any direction, A repeatedly drove forward and backward, ramming the patrol cars several times, according to reports.
Police continued the standoff for about an hour, and when A refused to comply with orders to exit the vehicle, they ultimately broke the car window and apprehended her.
