GANGJIN — Maryang Port, known as the Naples of Korea, hosts the Maryang Nolto Fish Market, where Saturdays become special with seafood sold at the "freshest," "highest quality" and "lowest prices." This summer vacation season, the market is gearing up to draw tourists with a wide range of programs, including hands-on events that three generations can enjoy together.
Gangjin County of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City will run various summer events at the Maryang Nolto Fish Market every Saturday from the 18th through August 15.
The events center on participatory, hands-on programs that tourists can directly join and enjoy. Regular events and weekly special events will offer visitors a distinctive kind of fun.
Regular events include a kids' play zone, Color Day, and a tourist singing contest.
The kids' play zone features various experience spaces where children can cool off, including an air bounce, a bubble experience, and a watermelon air bounce, providing family visitors with an enjoyable time.
The Color Day event offers tourists a unique memory: visitors wearing a blue Hawaiian shirt or a pink striped T-shirt, matching the outfits of the market mascots Marang-i and Sarang-i, will receive an umbrella.
In addition, participants selected in the tourist singing contest will receive market vouchers provided by the Maryang Nolto Fish Market merchants' association.
"We prepared the programs so that tourists visiting the market in the summer can enjoy various experiences and events and create special memories," said Kim Yong-gu, head of the Maryang Nolto Fish Market merchants' association.
