Lim Ha-soo, Vice Minister of the Korea Forest Service, convened an emergency meeting on the 9th to review the landslide disaster response, as strong rain continued through the night, mainly in Daejeon, Sejong, South and North Chungcheong provinces, and North Jeolla Province.
The meeting addressed measures to prevent landslide damage as landslide alerts were issued for 28 basic local governments (21 advisories and 7 warnings), with heavy rain forecast to continue through the 10th, mainly in the greater Seoul area and Gangwon Province.
"Refrain from outdoor activities near forests and do not approach hazardous areas such as landslide-prone zones," Lim urged the public.
