
The "Miracle of 119 Won" campaign, joined by firefighters at the Incheon Fire Headquarters, has raised more than 1.6 billion won.
The Incheon Fire Headquarters said on the 9th that the funds accumulated over seven years, from August 2019 when the campaign began through the end of last month, totaled 1.6047 billion won. The campaign started with the aim of having firefighters and members of the public each set aside 119 won a day to deliver to accident victims. Of the roughly 4,500 participants, about 2,300 are firefighters, while the rest are ordinary citizens.
Of the total raised, 664.13 million won was used to support 141 households affected by various accidents. The Incheon Fire Headquarters selects recipients through recommendations from firefighters and staff at related agencies and reviews by external committee members, then provides support through the Community Chest of Korea Incheon branch.
