Guri Mayor Shin Dong-hwa's first move toward realizing the ninth popularly elected administration's vision of a "Bold Challenge, Shining Guri City" was to personally visit frontline departments closely tied to citizens' daily lives.
According to Guri City on the 9th, Mayor Shin began the previous day at the Guri Topyeong Water Purification Plant and sewage treatment facilities, then visited a waste transfer station, a public health center and Inchang Library in turn. The purpose was to tour frontline departments directly connected to citizens' daily lives — including water and sewage operations, environmental management, and health and library services — while encouraging staff and listening to voices from the field.
At the water purification plant and sewage treatment facilities, Mayor Shin reviewed the status of stable water and sewage operations and called for thorough facility management and prevention of safety accidents. At the waste transfer station, he encouraged and expressed gratitude to the environmental officials working to create a clean urban environment despite the intense heat.
He then shared pending issues with staff at the public health center and Inchang Library and listened to difficulties in carrying out their work and areas needing improvement. "To provide better administrative services, field opinions matter more than anything," Mayor Shin said, continuing an open dialogue.
"With the mindset that the answer is always in the field, I will listen carefully to each and every opinion from staff, and for matters that need improvement, I will review them quickly and reflect them in city administration," Mayor Shin said. "I sincerely thank the staff who devote themselves to citizens' safety, health and a pleasant living environment in places unseen."
He stressed, "The ninth popularly elected administration's vision for Guri City, 'Bold Challenge, Shining Guri City,' starts from the field," adding, "I will build an organizational culture in which public officials can work with pride, and based on communication and trust, create changes that citizens can feel."
Guri City plans to continue visiting major project sites, sites related to citizens' livelihoods and frontline departments, strengthening communication-centered field administration that finds answers in the field.
