GOSEONG — Goseong County in South Gyeongsang Province is recruiting the first residents of its Sports Village, a housing complex built to nurture young athletic talent and boost the local population.
Located in Giwol-ri, Goseong-eup, the Sports Village broke ground in October 2022 with 6 billion won from the Population Decline Response Fund and was completed in May this year. The complex consists of four detached-house-type residences with an exclusive area of 136.5 square meters each and three multi-family-type buildings (18 units), accommodating a total of 62 residents.
For the detached-house-type units, eligibility is limited to coaches and student athletes at designated sports clubs under the Sports Club Act. The multi-family-type units are open to households that include elementary, middle, or high school student athletes in the county, or to sports coaches. Prospective residents can apply to the Sports Industry Division at the county's National Sports Center by the 20th.
The county will evaluate applicants based on the athletic activity records of athletes and coaches. Successful applicants, selected through deliberation and evaluation by an operating committee, can move in starting September 1.
