Damyang County in the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City will deploy a mid-size bus to improve mobility for the elderly. Through donations from the Jeonnam Community Chest's vehicle matching support project, local donors joined forces to raise 100 million won in project funds to support a mid-size bus for the Hyangchon Senior Welfare Center.
According to Damyang County on the 9th, a total of 100 million won will be invested to support the mid-size bus for the county's Hyangchon Senior Welfare Center, including 40 million won in designated donations from seven local donors and 60 million won in matching funds from the Jeonnam Community Chest.
Seven local donors participated in the designated donations, including Damyang County Forestry Cooperative, Damyang Aekkot, Mudeungsan Ecological Care Hospital, Mirim Industrial Development, Seungil Restaurant (owner Kim Gap-rye), Seungju Construction, and Ssanggyo Charcoal Grill Galbi.
The supported mid-size bus will be used to enhance mobility for elderly people using the welfare center and to help them participate in cultural, leisure, and health promotion programs.
At the donation ceremony held the previous day, designated donors, officials from the Hyangchon Senior Welfare Center, and the Jeonnam Community Chest attended, joining in the community's interest and cooperation for improving elderly welfare.
"We will do our best to guarantee the elderly's right to mobility and improve their access to welfare services," Damyang County Governor Park Jong-won said.
