A man in his 60s who was arrested while lying on a street in Jongno-gu, Seoul, shaking violently, has tested positive for methamphetamine.
The Seoul Hyehwa Police Station said Friday that it plans to request an arrest warrant that day for the man, identified as A, who is suspected of violating the Act on the Control of Narcotics.
A was arrested on emergency grounds around 8:40 a.m. the previous day on a street in Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu. Police were dispatched after receiving a report that "a person is lying on the street," and found A shaking violently at the scene.
A disposable syringe was found in A's pocket at the time. Police also confirmed injection marks on A's arm.
In a subsequent rapid drug test, A tested positive for methamphetamine.
Police said they will request an arrest warrant that day while investigating A on how he took the drug and how he obtained it.
