Travelers will soon be able to find a variety of regional traditional liquors at KTX stations.
Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) said Monday it had signed a business agreement with the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation and Korail Retail at its headquarters in Daejeon to expand sales channels for traditional liquors.
Under the agreement, Korail will provide retail space inside KTX stations, while the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation will handle store installation and coordinate with participating businesses. Korail Retail will support overall store operations.
The three organizations will open a pop-up store at Daejeon Station from August through the end of the year, where visitors can taste and purchase traditional liquors from the Chungcheong region. The store will feature products from businesses selected for the "Visiting Brewery" program, and the operation is planned to expand nationwide.
In addition, in September, the organizations plan to sell traditional liquors that received high marks at the "Woori Sool Competition," a state-certified liquor evaluation event, at railway station convenience stores (Storyway).
"We hope Korea's traditional liquors will be loved in a broader market and contribute to regional development," said Won Hyung-min, head of Korail's New Growth Business Division.
