The head of a civic group that has campaigned to hang banners alleging election fraud faces a decision on his arrest.
Kim Ji-hyun, the warrant-review chief judge at the Seoul Southern District Court, will hold a warrant hearing Friday afternoon for two people, including Kim, the head of "Patriot Banner." Kim faces charges of violating the Political Funds Act.
Kim and the other suspects are accused of receiving political funds through unreported accounts. Some of the funds were reportedly used to produce banners alleging election fraud or carrying anti-China expressions.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's anti-corruption investigation unit began its investigation in July last year after receiving a complaint from the National Election Commission accusing the head of the "Naeillo Miraero" party and others of violating the Political Funds Act. Kim and others are known to have received donations through the Naeillo Miraero account and produced banners.
