
Police have launched an investigation after a post threatening to kill President Lee Jae-myung appeared on a social networking service (SNS).
Seoul's Hyehwa Police Station said Thursday that it "is tracking the author who posted a message on their SNS saying, 'I will kill President Lee Jae-myung today.'"
The author was confirmed to have posted the same threatening message five times on their Threads account at around 6:30 a.m. that day.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency assigned the case to Hyehwa Police Station after receiving a report at around 9:30 a.m. that "a post threatening to assassinate President Lee was published on SNS." Hyehwa Police Station plans to verify the author's identity based on the SNS account and internet protocol (IP) address, while investigating the circumstances under which the post was made.
