Gwangyang, a city in the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City, has recommended four distinct camping sites blending forests, valleys, night views, rivers and the sea for the summer vacation season. Set against the natural scenery of Baegunsan Mountain's forests and valleys, the Seomjin River and Gwangyang Bay, they make ideal destinations where visitors can enjoy both camping and sightseeing.
The city said Sunday that it operates various types of campgrounds, including the Gwangyang Baegunsan Recreational Forest, Geumcheon Valley Campground, Gubongsan Forest Campground and Baealdo Starlight Campground.
The Gwangyang Baegunsan Recreational Forest is a forest recreation facility built in the natural woodlands of Baegunsan Mountain, offering campgrounds, a healing forest, a wood culture experience center and a forest museum.
The Geumcheon Valley Campground was built along a valley at the foot of Baegunsan Mountain. With its blend of valley and forest, visitors can enjoy both water activities and camping in summer.
The Gubongsan Forest Campground is a forest campground close to the city center with good accessibility. Visitors can enjoy the forest during the day and the night view of Gwangyang Bay from Gubongsan Mountain at night.
The Baealdo Starlight Campground was built in a waterfront space where the Seomjin River meets the sea, equipped with caravans and camping facilities.
"This summer, I hope visitors will enjoy relaxing at the campgrounds and also experience the valleys, island gardens, the night view of Gwangyang Bay and local food," said Lee Hyun-joo, head of Gwangyang's tourism division.
