Dongseo University has run a practical, field-based program set in Seoul's film industry to strengthen its students' competitiveness in employment and startups in the film and video sector.
The university's Global K-Culture Leading Convergence Talent Development Center said Tuesday that it recently held the "2026 Global K-Culture Career and Startup Camp" over a two-day, one-night schedule at the Film Forum, an art house cinema in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, and the Korean Film Museum in Mapo-gu.
About 60 people took part in the program, including students from the Department of Film and the Department of Video and Animation, students enrolled in the Global K-Culture convergence-linked major, and graduates. Participants worked to enhance their content planning and production capabilities and experienced the film industry firsthand.
A screening of works by Dongseo University's Department of Film, held on the first day of the camp, drew not only students and graduates but also members of the general public. After the screening, participants shared their creative experiences and industry insights through a guest visit (GV) session and networking.
The center then signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Film Forum art house cinema, agreeing to cooperate on linking students and graduates to employment and startups, promoting portfolios, and sustainable talent development based on industry-academia collaboration.
Cho Hyun-ki, chief programmer of the Seoul International Love Film Festival and Film Forum, also delivered a special lecture on topics including the role of a film programmer, the operation of art house cinemas, and content selection strategies, sharing practical know-how from the film industry.
On the second day, participants explored the history of the film industry and career paths under the theme "Cut! And Career" at the Korean Film Museum.
"We designed this as a venue for practical exchange where the industry and students meet directly, going beyond simply screening works," said Choi Dong-hyuk, head of the Global K-Culture Leading Convergence Talent Development Center. "Based on our cooperation with the Film Forum, we will expand support so that students can build the practical skills needed in the OTT era and settle stably into Busan's film industry."
