Korea Forest Service Minister Park Eun-sik visited a landslide-prone area in Seosu-myeon, Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, on Thursday to inspect landslide prevention projects and the resident evacuation system.
The area is where erosion control dams have been installed on a yearly basis since last year in the upper reaches of the landslide-prone zone.
"Landslide-prone areas carry a high risk of casualties when landslides occur," Park said. "Please operate the resident evacuation system preemptively, even to the point of seeming excessive."
