
Osan Mayor Cho Yong-ho officially took office as the 14th mayor of Osan on Tuesday, presenting "Growth City Osan Built Together With Citizens" as the administrative vision for his ninth popularly elected term. His plan is to lead sustainable urban growth through revitalizing the local economy, fostering future industries, strengthening education and welfare, and expanding the metropolitan transportation network, all based on citizen-centered administration.
At the inauguration ceremony held that morning at the Osan Culture and Arts Center, Cho said, "I will make citizens' voices the starting point of city administration and carry out an administration that finds answers on the ground." He added, "I will create an Osan that grows together with its citizens and deliver change that citizens can feel."
Ahead of the ceremony, Cho paid tribute at the Memorial Tower, honoring the patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes, before signing the handover documents and beginning the first official duties of his ninth elected term. The inauguration was attended by citizens as well as National Assembly member Cha Ji-ho, city and provincial council members, heads of institutions and organizations, and public officials, who celebrated the launch of the new administration.
Cho presented citizen-centered accountable administration, a sustainable local economy, an education city that nurtures future talent, the establishment of a comprehensive welfare and safety net, and expansion of the metropolitan transportation network as key tasks for his ninth elected term. He also stressed his commitment to strengthening communication with citizens and realizing an administration that everyone can relate to through integrated governance.
In the economic sector, Cho unveiled plans to build a foundation for AI and semiconductor industries centered on the Segyo 3 District and Unamdeul, and to inject vitality into the local economy by expanding local currency and revitalizing traditional markets. In education, he said he would strengthen the foundation for cultivating future talent by establishing an AI and AX education hub and pursuing Osan-style AI career education.
In the welfare sector, he promised to build a 24-hour care system and expand medical and welfare infrastructure. In transportation, he said he would concentrate administrative capacity on expanding the metropolitan transportation network, including extending the GTX-C line and reviving the Bundang Line extension.
