Korea Forest Service Minister Park Eun-sik visited a pine wilt disease control site at Bukhansan National Park in Jeongneung-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, on Monday, inspecting the control operations following the recurrence of pine wilt disease as well as future monitoring and control strategies.
Park reviewed the emergency control efforts, including small-area clear-cutting, that have been carried out since pine wilt disease reappeared in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, in April 2026.
"Since a significant portion of the new and recurring damage is presumed to be caused by artificial spread, cracking down on the movement of pine trees is very important," Park stressed.
