A man in his 70s suffered a crash while paragliding in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province.
According to police and fire authorities Friday, the man, identified only as A, struck a power line on a utility pole and fell to the ground at around 3:33 p.m. that day near Chilpo Beach in Heunghae-eup, Buk-gu, Pohang.
A 119 rescue team dispatched after receiving the report rescued the man and transported him to a nearby hospital. He was in cardiac arrest at the time of the rescue, according to authorities.
Police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident based on factors including the weather conditions at the time, the flight path, and possible equipment failure.
