The popular idol group BTS held a concert in Busan, but the performance was delayed by more than an hour on its opening night, prompting an apology from its agency.
On Friday, BTS's agency Hybe said through the fan platform Weverse, "We deeply apologize for the great inconvenience caused by the delayed start of the performance to all audience members who came to watch the world tour 'Arirang' held on the 12th."
The concert on the 12th was originally scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., but entry was delayed as crowds gathered, and it started around 8:15 p.m., about 1 hour and 15 minutes late. A series of posts complaining about the inconvenience were uploaded on online communities and other platforms.
Hybe said, "We prepared as thoroughly as possible to ensure there were no shortcomings in our operations, in order to provide a meaningful time for our audience, but the start of the main performance was delayed due to a combination of factors, including confusion in on-site guidance, bottlenecks in queues during the fan gift distribution process, and delays in receiving merchandise." It then apologized again, saying, "We once again sincerely apologize for the great disappointment and inconvenience caused to audience members who waited a long time to watch the performance."
BTS will hold its second-day performance at the same venue on Saturday. Meanwhile, BTS's new song "Come Over," released the previous day, reached No. 1 on the iTunes "Top Songs" chart in 79 countries around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Japan, as of 6 a.m. on the 13th.
