Major lodging facilities in South Jeolla Province (Jeonnam) will be discounted by up to 70,000 won during the summer peak season.
"This discount is part of the '2026 Korea Summer Lodging Sale Festa' being promoted together with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, and was arranged to revitalize regional tourism and expand the inflow of living population," Oh Mi-kyung, head of the Jeonnam Province tourism division, said Wednesday.
In line with this, Jeonnam Province will provide lodging fee discounts of up to 70,000 won to guests of accommodation facilities in 16 population-declining cities and counties through July 31.
The discount applies to 16 cities and counties: Gangjin, Goheung, Gokseong, Gurye, Damyang, Boseong, Sinan, Yeonggwang, Yeongam, Wando, Jangseong, Jangheung, Jindo, Hampyeong, Haenam and Hwasun. Tourists using accommodation facilities such as hotels, resorts, condominiums and pensions in these areas can receive discount coupons.
The discount amount varies depending on the number of nights booked and the price of the lodging product. For a one-night product, bookings of 70,000 won or more receive a 30,000 won discount, while bookings under 70,000 won receive a 20,000 won discount. For a two-night stay product, bookings of 140,000 won or more receive a 70,000 won discount, while bookings under 140,000 won receive a 50,000 won discount.
"We promoted the lodging sale festa to ease the travel burden on tourists during the summer peak season and to add vitality to the travel industry and local commercial districts," Oh said. "We hope visitors will enjoy a special summer trip while taking in Jeonnam's islands, sea, forests and Namdo cuisine."
