Additional ballots were sent to some polling stations in Ulsan during the 9th nationwide local elections held on June 3, but voting concluded without any waiting or delays.
The Ulsan Metropolitan City Election Commission issued an official statement Monday on the situation in which additional ballots were sent to polling stations within its jurisdiction during the election-day voting process.
According to the commission, the number of ballots initially printed for the Ulsan region was calculated based on 60% of the number of voters, taking into account the expected early voting rate and turnout in recent elections.
However, on election day, a situation arose in which additional ballots were sent to 3 of a total of 269 polling stations in Ulsan. The stations were: Okdong Polling Station No. 4 in Nam-gu, Hyomun-dong Polling Station No. 3 in Buk-gu, and Taehwa-dong Polling Station No. 4 in Jung-gu.
Of these, the additional ballots were actually used for voting at two stations — Okdong Polling Station No. 4 in Nam-gu and Hyomun-dong Polling Station No. 3 in Buk-gu — excluding Taehwa-dong Polling Station No. 4 in Jung-gu.
"Voting closed normally at 6 p.m. sharp, the voting end time, without any voter waiting or delays," an Ulsan Election Commission official said.
