A subcontractor worker at POSCO E&C has died at a worksite once again.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor, at around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, a 35-year-old subcontractor worker identified as A fell through a 15-meter-high opening at a railway construction site in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, that POSCO E&C had been overseeing. The worker had been carrying out work to expand the opening to install a cable tray.
The ministry halted work at the site and launched an investigation into the accident. It plans to conduct a strict investigation into whether POSCO E&C violated the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
Five workers were killed at POSCO E&C sites last year.
