Labor authorities have booked the chief executive of Hanwha Aerospace on charges of violating the Serious Accidents Punishment Act over an explosion at the company's Daejeon plant that killed five people and injured two.
The Daejeon Regional Employment and Labor Office said Wednesday it had booked Son Jae-il, chief executive of Hanwha Aerospace, on suspicion of violating the Serious Accidents Punishment Act. The Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency also said it had booked and was investigating Ka Jae-woong, head of the Daejeon plant, on charges of professional negligence resulting in death and injury. Ka was also booked by the labor office on suspicion of violating the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
Police have barred three Hanwha Aerospace officials, including Son and Ka, from leaving the country. The special investigation team said it had so far completed questioning of seven officials and five bereaved family members.
