As artificial intelligence (AI) and data increasingly determine corporate competitiveness, the city of Busan is working with global big tech companies to find digital transformation solutions for the region's industries. The event goes beyond simply introducing technology, offering practical strategies for connecting data accumulated in manufacturing sites and corporate operations to new business value.
Busan said Thursday it will hold a "Digital Transformation (DX·AX) Forum" at the Busan Big Data Innovation Center in Haeundae-gu on Friday afternoon. The event is hosted by the city of Busan and co-organized by Busan Techno Park, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Megazone Cloud, and the Korea Software Industry Association (KOSA).
The forum addresses how companies can collect and analyze the vast amounts of data they hold, and connect this to actual management innovation and productivity gains. With AI-based digital transformation accelerating, particularly in manufacturing, the forum focuses on sharing the latest cases and technology trends from leading global companies with local firms.
In the first session, Jeong Ji-gang, a Solutions Architect (SA) at Amazon Web Services (AWS), will present on the theme "From Accumulated Documents to Insights." He plans to introduce cases in which unstructured data such as contracts, reports, and technical documents accumulated within companies are analyzed using intelligent document processing (IDP) technology to derive new management information.
Next, Jang Jae-young, a director at Megazone Cloud, will share cases of collecting and analyzing Internet of Things (IoT) sensor data from industrial sites in real time under the theme "Intelligent Connectivity for Physical AI."
AI strategies in the manufacturing sector will also be covered. AWS's Reshmi Roy will present strategies for incrementally accumulating data from production sites and connecting it to smart factory construction under the theme "Building the Intelligent Factory."
In the field of corporate work innovation, Jeon Tae-jin, branch manager of IP NOW, will introduce data-based work innovation, the status of AI transformation (AX), and response strategies.
Explanations of government support programs will follow. The Korea AI Software Industry Association (KOSA) plans to guide local manufacturers on related government support programs and how to use them so they can pursue digital transformation utilizing data and AI.
Busan expects the forum to provide practical help in strengthening the digital competitiveness of local manufacturers. In particular, as smart manufacturing using AI and cloud technology and the establishment of data-based decision-making systems emerge as key tasks for securing corporate competitiveness, the city believes the success stories of global companies can offer new direction to local industries.
