A fire broke out at a factory in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, prompting fire authorities to issue a Level 2 emergency response and carry out firefighting operations.
According to fire authorities, the fire broke out at around 9:05 p.m. on Friday at a factory in Seonggok-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi Province. No casualties have been confirmed so far. The fire was reported to be spreading to nearby factories.
Fire authorities, citing concerns over the fire spreading, issued a Level 1 response (used when 31 to 50 vehicles are needed) at around 9:10 p.m., five minutes after the fire started, and proceeded with firefighting operations. They later raised it to a Level 2 response (51 to 80 vehicles) at around 9:48 p.m. A total of 35 pieces of equipment and 152 personnel were deployed in the firefighting operations.
Through an emergency text alert, the Ansan city government urged, "Residents nearby should keep their windows closed, and vehicles should take a detour onto surrounding roads." Fire authorities said they plan to investigate the cause of the fire once the flames are brought under control.
