The transition committee for Daegu's city administration is expected to be a "working-level" team involving only the minimum necessary personnel.
Choo Kyung-ho, the Daegu mayor-elect from the People Power Party, began preparations to run the city administration on Wednesday, starting with a briefing on the city's key issues.
That morning, Choo received the briefing from Acting Mayor Kim Jung-ki, Planning and Coordination Office Director Oh Joon-hyuk, Administration Bureau Director Ahn Joong-gon, and Policy Planning Officer Han Eung-min at the Daegu Policy Institute in Dong-gu, Daegu.
Also in attendance were Daegu City Councilor Ha Joong-hwan, Public Relations Office Director Han Dong-yeop, and Policy Office Director Lee Eun-jung, who had worked on Choo's election campaign.
Ahead of the briefing, Choo briefly remarked, "I arranged this time because there were items to be briefly reported on, including urgent matters."
The briefing was held behind closed doors for about one hour and 30 minutes.
Key issues including the Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport, AI transformation (AX), and the relocation of water sources were reportedly reported on in broad terms.
After the briefing, Choo told reporters, "I was briefed on general matters," adding, "Starting next week, I will receive detailed briefings on issues from each department."
Regarding the city administration transition committee, he said, "I will not organize it on a large scale. I plan to keep it as small as necessary."
The transition committee is set to be established at the Daegu Content Center in Sincheon-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu.
Meanwhile, Choo visited the Daegu Election Commission the previous day to receive his certificate of election as Daegu mayor, and he will be inaugurated on the first of next month.
