South Jeolla Province said Thursday it will launch a "Jeonnam-style Youth Village" support program to help young people settle and become self-reliant in the region. The program will operate tailored programs suited to each area's characteristics, create networking spaces for youth, and provide job and startup support linked to region-specific industries. Through these efforts, the province plans to help young people settle in the region and build a youth village model that thrives alongside residents.
As part of the initiative, the province selected three sites — Dolsan-eup in Yeosu, Donggang-myeon in Goheung, and Beolgyo-eup in Boseong — and will provide each village with 300 million won and expert consulting over three years.
Yeosu's Dolsan-eup project, "Dolsan THE Gat," plans to build a youth village model through a "Gat Island Picnic" using Dolsan local food. Goheung's Donggang-myeon project, "Goheung Citrus (Mandarin)," will operate a youth smart pruning team, while Boseong's Beolgyo-eup project, "First Penguin Village," plans to commercialize local resources through designer workations and goods design competitions.
